Our experienced counselors help clients and families cope with the special problems that accompany loss of sight. Clients interested in learning more about our adjustment to vision loss counseling should contact Jo Jaros, LCSW at 650-858-0202 ext.115.
Support Groups
Vista Center offers several monthly support groups facilitated by our professional counseling staff. Clients discuss strategies for managing sight loss, exchange information about resources, and discuss the feelings that often accompany loss of sight. Clients in support groups build a community, become more positive about their loss of vision, and are more likely to resume activities and accept other rehabilitation services. If you are interested in learning about or attending a support group please call the facilitator listed prior to attending the group. Current support groups include:
Working Age Support Group
This group serves participants 65 years of age or younger.

San Mateo County Senior Support Group
Meeting date and time: First Monday of each month, 10:00 a.m. to noon.

Santa Clara County Senior Support Group

Palo Alto Senior Support Group
Meeting day and time: Second Monday of each month, 1:30 to 3:00 PM
Meeting place: Vista Center for the Blind & Visually Impaired, Palo Alto
Cypress Senior Center Low Vision Group
Meeting day and time: Third Wednesday of each month, 10:00 to 11:30 AM
Meeting place: Cypress Senior Center, 403 So. Cypress Ave., San Jose.
The Atrium Low Vision Group
Meeting day and time: First Tuesday of each month, 10:00 to 11:30 AM
